my son's birthday
bugsy's birthday, which is october 3, falls on a Saturday. and so today---friday--- he's treating his classmates at the preschool of UCCP to some snacks and loots.

in raising bugsy as an adopted son, i take my cue from this:
On Children
Kahlil Gibran
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let our bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
bugz, no matter what, you'll grow up loved and valued by us. happy birthday!

hosting job
if you ask my friends about one thing i do best, they'll say: hosting!
and if you ask them why, they'll say: because he's spontaneous; he can work without a script and an idiot board; he can improvise; he can think quickly on his feet; and his one-liner adlibs are killers!
oh well, who am i to disagree? ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!

brochures galore
finally i can exhale because after so much remote-control supervision, the drafts of the three-fold OTOP brochures i'm doing for surigao and agusan provinces are now in for final editing. just a bit of tweaking here and there (typo, layout, font, etc.) and i'm good as done. which means i can move on to other things like tago and san miguel's brochures. yay!

celebrating birthday with a difference
i celebrated my birthday with less fortunate kids in my neighborhood: we had "fellowship dinner" at home, carnival rides, and eat-all-you-can at the tandag town plaza.

one with the kids!

carrousel; 15 pesos each!

rabbit ride; 15 pesos each!

elephant ride; 10 pesos each!

ferris wheel: 15 pesos each!

joy on kids' faces: PRICELESS!
